Ray Tuttle was Emily Tuttle's Father from the comic of The Mask: The Hunt for Green October.

He worked in a charity shop downstairs in his flat and he has red marks on the back of his hands because he was injured in a bad accident by a rich man named Nelson Hathaway the same one who killed his wife and caused his daughter to become mute 5-years-ago in an Amusement Park.

History[]

After an accident that resulted in the death of his wife named Madeline and the crippling of his hands at an amusement park owned by Nelson Hathaway, who avoided the charges for the park's faulty rides and equipment, he was left to raise their daughter Emily on his own, and forming a bond with her proved difficult since her mother's death left her almost catatonic, which made her the target of several bullies at school.

One day, he purchases the strange jade coloured mask from a homeless black woman and, after seeing so many reports on the opening of Hathaway's new casino and fueling his hatred, puts it on, becoming the new Big-Head. After several mishaps while testing out his new powers, he decides to clean up Sky City by targeting and destroying several insurance offices.

After waking up and hearing of last night's incident, he decides to use the mask to make his and Emily's lives better, starting with attacking Emily's bullies to get them to back off. When he sees the news report on the grand opening of Hathaway's casino, he decides to put on the mask and get his revenge.

After stirring up some chaos in the casino, he is confronted by the entire Sky City Police Department, but he easily dispatches them. He seizes Hathaway and dunks him headfirst into a toilet, but is stopped by Kellaway, who attempts to reason with him that the not ordinary mask is dangerous because it teaches some people to kill other people when it knows what other people especially when what they hurt them because it is isn't a benevolent mask only to be interrupted by the other officers, prompting Big-Head to escape with the massive piggy bank.

The next day, he wakes up to find the not ordinary mask missing along with a note from Emily about taking art supplies for her costume, as well as identical sculpted masks. Moments later, he sees a news report about last night's incident, including Hathaway dying of a heart attack and a massive riot in the streets after the money Ray stole was dispersed.

Shocked that he killed someone, even though Hathaway was responsible for Madeline's death, he attempts to get rid of the mask, which is currently being worn by Emily at the Halloween party at school, who uses it to get back at her bullies.

Ray receives a visit from Kellaway, who then discusses with him about the dangers of wearing the not ordinary mask and why it must be dealt with. They are ambushed and taken hostage by the Mask Hunters, a Neo-Nazi gang who spent the entire story searching for the not ordinary mask in order to use it for their own ends.

The Mask Hunters begin to ransack Ray's house while searching for it, until a rival gang, the Iron Triad, who are also searching for the not ordinary mask, arrive, and to make matters worse, the Sky City police force also enters the fray, and the three parties engage in a standoff, with Ray and Kellaway in the middle. Emily arrives while wearing the not ordinary mask and dispatches all three parties, until she sees her father taken hostage by Axel and his remaining Mask Hunters, who demand the mask in exchange for her father's life.

She obliges, but instead puts the mask on her father and then Masked Ray dispatches the Mask Hunters. Axel, badly injured, refuses to accept defeat and throws his lighter onto highly flammable petrol, which blows up the entire chemical plant, but Masked Ray and Emily are able to escape the ensuing explosion, as Masked Ray swallows Emily inside him, knowing she will be safe inside him and because of his immunity survives the explosion.

Masked Ray spits Emily out and landed safely, which Big Head checks on Kellaway to see if he's alive and he is, but Masked Ray's celebration is cut short when Emily begs her father to stop being Big-Head because of how corruptive the not ordinary mask is and expressing her love for her father. Ray is overjoyed to hear his daughter speaking for the first time, while Big Head is touched by what she said and knows that she is right, so Big Head removes his face and Ray hugs her.

In the aftermath, Ray hides the not ordinary mask away in a deposit box at the bank, and leaves with Emily to begin their new lives.

Mask Persona[]

When wearing the not ordinary mask, he is genuinely insane and cartoonish like the other Big-Heads. But unlike his predecessors, he actually uses his powers and abilities to help and protect innocent people. His vengeful attitude towards Hathaway for the death of his wife increases and attempts to kill him, only to be talked out of it by Kellaway.

In spite of his intense hatred towards Hathaway, Ray never wished to take his revenge so far by killing him, as he becomes shocked when he hears about Hathaway's death (which was indirect since he died of a heart attack). He is also fiercely protective of his daughter Emily, as shown when he frightens her bullies to get them off her back, as well as when he takes on the Mask-Hunters, though he subdues them instead of killing them, though most of their deaths are caused by their own hands. Though genuinely insane, he knows that his daughter is not like him, so he swallows her inside him, while he survives the explosion caused by Axel, showing how smart he is.
