All Hallow's Eve is the thirteenth episode of The Mask: The Animated Series.

Summary[]

On Halloween night, Skillit escapes from reform school determined to get revenge on the Mask for making him do homework and reanimates the corpses of three of Stanley Ipkiss' predecessors, Attila the Hun, Billy the Kid and an evil Merlin, who had been transformed into a monstrous corruption of his former self when a magic spell blew up in his face.

Plot[]

Halloween has come to Edge City and Skillit uses this as an opportunity to escape from the reform school the Mask had locked him up in after his last misadventure in the mortal realm and performs a ritual at a specific moment during sunset. The ritual opens a portal to the Shadowland and allows Skillit to reunite with his shadow and regain his powers. Now, he only cares about one thing: getting revenge on Stanley Ipkiss.

Later that night, Stanley is trying to have a peaceful day at work until he gets a call from Skillit, who tells him that he will unleash a wave of horror unlike anything Edge City has seen before, unless the Mask comes out to play with Skillit. Stanley has no choice but to return home, but not before Charlie reminds Stanley that it’s his turn to perform the ceremonial Jack-o-lantern carving at the bank's annual Halloween party.

Upon returning home, Stanley puts on the Mask and attempt to stop Skillit, but not before playing a prank on Mrs. Peenman by dressing up as the Grim Reaper and scaring the living daylights out of her, dressing her up as a clown, and stealing her frozen foods. Upon reaching the park he was supposed to meet Skillit at, the Mask is ambushed by the reanimated corpses of Billy the Kid, Attila the Hun and even Merlin, the medieval wizard who was turned into a monster after one of his spells backfired. Skillit explains that the corpses he reanimated were each the previous wearers of the Mask, and now, they want it back.

The zombies attempt to forcibly remove the Mask from Stanley, but the Mask pulls out the multiple tricks he has up his sleeve and escapes the zombies and then runs away to the Coco Bongo, which is holding the bank’s Halloween party. To avoid his pursuers, who gain easy access to the party after being mistaken for guests in costumes, the Mask willingly turns back into Stanley, who disguises himself as a medieval knight. With his new costume, Stanley fools Skillit and his minions, until the bank president reminds him that, this year, Stanley is tasked with carving up a Jack-o'-lantern on a pumpkin.

Stanley finishes the carving ceremony and earns a standing ovation from the crowd, but he gets ambushed by Skillit, who threatens to decapitate him with a guillotine unless he turns over the Mask. After Stanley gives the Mask to the zombies, who start fighting amongst themselves over who gets to wear it, Skillit says to Stanley that he never had a chance against the zombies, and he further explains that the only way to send the zombies back to the Shadowland is by tricking either him or the zombies into saying the incantation that summoned them in the first place backwards. The first incantation was "Mask"; therefore, the reverse incantation is "Ksam".

Fortunately, Stanley has already tricked the zombies into fighting over a fake Mask made out of leftover pumpkin, while he survives the decapitation thanks to his metallic armor and puts on the real Mask, which was hidden inside the pumpkin he carved. Although the Mask easily tricks Attila and Billy into saying the incantation, Merlin is incapable of pronouncing words (since he’s not human anymore), so the Mask is forced to say the incantation himself and chain himself to Merlin while the portal to the Shadowland pulls them both in, with Skillit following them.

Unfortunately for the Mask, Skillit's power exponentially increases while in the Shadowland, so the Mask separates Skillit from his shadow, buying enough time to return the mortal realm while Skillit is forced to return to the Shadowland empty-handed. The party at the Coco Bongo is ending, but the Mask gets one last laugh at Mrs. Peenman's expense.
